Why it matters to NUVO
Need Energy further extends NUVO's presence in South Africa's renewable-energy market. Distributed generation capacity has surpassed 7.8 GW, driven by commercial and residential responses to power cuts and high tariffs. Wheeling and private-sector generation frameworks are maturing for larger businesses, while peer-to-peer and neighbourhood-level residential sharing models are gradually emerging through municipal regulatory updates and private microgrid developers. Need Energy's exchange and coordination platform addresses this, as proven in Zimbabwe, where more than 2.2 GW of energy has been traded.
